Mang Landos Kambingan has been under the radar of food bloggers. For those craving bold local cuisines, Mang Lando's Kambingan serves authentic goat dishes of papait, kilawin, paklay, and adobong kanding (goat steak).
Adobo is an iconic Filipino dish, made by braising meat — pork, chicken and goat — in a savory mix of soy sauce, vinegar, garlic, bay leaves, and spices.
Papait is a traditional dish made from goat innards, slow-cooked with spices and flavored with bile for a rich, earthy taste with a distinctive bitter kick.
Paklay is distintinctly Cebuano dish made from goat or cow's innards, tripes, and bamboo shoots, lemon grass, sayote and bell peppers. Simmered in a tangy, spiced sauce with ginger and chili, it delivers a hearty, spicy kick. Loved for its bold taste and rich textures, paklay is a must-try for those looking for authentic local cuisine.
Kilawin is different from kinilaw. It is a Filipino delicacy made from raw, lightly blanched skin of goat marinated in vinegar, calamansi juice, onions, ginger and spices.
The acidity of coconut vinegar blends a fresh, tangy dish bursting with flavor. Kilawin has bold and zesty taste, often enjoyed as an appetizer or paired with beer, vodka or brandy.
The rustic Mang Lando's Kambingan's entrance is near Circle B Inn, along Matina Aplaya Road, approx. one kilometer from the back of SM Ecoland.
Balut Challenge: Balut is a famous Filipino delicacy — a 16-day fertilized duck egg with a partially developed embryo is excellent. Typically eaten at night, it’s cracked open, sprinkled with salt and topped with chili vinegar before being shaken and slurped.
The rich broth, tender embryo, and creamy yolk create a bold, unforgettable delight, perfect for adventurous eaters exploring exotic menu. Perhaps you can try this at Roxas Night Market.
Durian Challenge: Durian, known as the 'King of Fruits,' and exported to China, and famous for its devilish smells but heavenly taste, has a strong aroma and creamy, custard-like flesh.
Its bold flavor is a must-try in Davao City, enjoyed fresh or in treats like candy and ice cream. You can find it at the front of Magsaysay Park. Durian fruit is seasonal from July-October.
